The development of speaking in English lessons.

This article is devoted to the problems and prospects of studying English in a modern school. English has indeed become an integral part of global communication and its role in interstate and personal relations is very important. The ability to speak and understand English is necessary in many areas of social life, in some professions and occupations. As you know, learning a foreign language begins with school. And here the role of the teacher is fundamental, since it is the teacher who lays the foundation for the correct pronunciation and intonation, expands the vocabulary and grammar, teaches the culture of communication. It is the teacher who instills the love of the language and the desire of students to study its subject. Unfortunately, not everything depends on the teacher. Sometimes he has to face discouraging problems that can only be solved at the regional or national level. This article highlights some of the problems of learning English, as well as ways to solve them.

Learning English is becoming more and more relevant in modern society. It is the language of politics, economics and sports. You can not do without it in international trade, the banking system and transport. The scientific world also cannot do without knowledge of English. Great prospects open up for people who know English. This is an opportunity to travel, communicate with people from different countries; it is an opportunity to receive information on the World Wide Web; read the source in the original or just watch an interesting movie in English. And how many opportunities open up for online communication. All this contributes to the increasing role of the English language as an international language in the modern world. However, very often a teacher in high school is left alone with numerous problems associated with the optimization of the educational process. The purpose of this article is to identify problems associated with teaching English at school, as well as some recommendations for solving these problems.

The most painful problem that every teacher faces is the question of the student or his parent: “Why is the student studying English hard and having only fives, the student barely understands foreign language and is not able to express his thoughts at all? "And, indeed, the teacher carefully selects various techniques for introducing and activating vocabulary and grammar; uses modern pedagogical technologies for the development and improvement of colloquial speech; uses multimedia tools to introduce into the language environment, but the result is poor - students still do not understand live conversations from native speakers. The conclusion suggests itself that we teach children the “dead” language, along with how medical workers learn Latin. There is a certain stagnation in learning English. The solution to this problem is very shallow. This is the modernization of the teaching materials: collections of program materials; textbooks containing a systematic presentation of educational material; teaching aids intended for teachers and containing general recommendations on the development and conduct of lessons; workbooks for students to work independently. But such a modernization is possible if only the correlation of theory and practice is inclined towards practice.

It should be noted that huge changes occur not only in the field of phonetics. Language is a living organism in which the vocabulary is constantly updated and changed. Take, for example, slang. These are words and expressions used by certain groups of people and living a full life in modern spoken language, but not always used in literature. Another problem that hampers the ability to speak is confusion with the times and a small vocabulary. Not surprisingly, the curriculum covers all areas of speech activity, the volume of which the teacher is not able to convey and work at the proper level, and the student digest it all. In addition, preparation for the exam and exam takes the lions share of the lesson. So it turns out that an English lesson is learning the basics of language at the top. One of the important problems remains the poor technical equipment of the foreign language office and the lack of the Internet, the presence of which, of course, would be an additional motivation for students. In English lessons using the Internet it is possible to solve a number of didactic problems: obtaining information from a global network; improving the ability to correspond with native speakers from English-speaking countries; replenishment of the vocabulary of students; developing speaking skills through communication with peers from English-speaking countries. Sites containing interactive games, animations, Skype, bring motivation to study this subject and help optimize the learning process. And a teacher from a carrier of knowledge and information turns into an organizer of activities for obtaining the necessary knowledge from Internet resources. The problem of technical equipment, of course, is being solved, but it is very slow and not a secret that the name of this problem is insufficient funding. In the meantime, our students have a fear of real communication with native speakers, so they simply avoid this communication.

The teacher needs help, not censure. After all, the role of the teacher in the process of teaching students English is still undeniable. But, as the Chinese proverb says, “Teacher opens the door, and you must enter yourself.”
