Topic: 'Clothes and Accessories'

‘The fashion show’ sample

Time :60 min

Objectives: The lesson aims at developing speaking and listening skills.

Warm-up: Write down the topic on the board: ‘Clothes and accessories’. Ask students to describe their teacher using appropriate vocabulary they aware of.

Presentation:

First of all, learners will do flash cards activity to review clothes vocabulary and accessories. Secondly, ask students to describe items with appropriate adjectives.

Write the construction of present continuous tense (to Be + V+ing)

Then, students do a simple activity using the present continuous with clothes and accessories, and play a game to describe what their classmates are wearing.

Vocabulary: : Skirt, blouse, pants, shoes, boots, gloves, sweater, earrings, necklace, scarf, sandals, hat.

Practice and activity:

Match the words. Hand in a copy of worksheets with the following exercise. Read ‘The fashion show’ sample. Working individually, students have ten minutes to match the words. Read the text once again so that students can check their answers. Discuss the answers and let students to see the text this time. Use visual aid for demonstration. Projector would be the best option.

Follow-up activity: Fashion teaching activity, students take on the role of fashion magazine reporters and describe the clothes and appearance of five celebrities. Give each pair of students a copy of the worksheet. Working together, the students look at pictures of celebrities on the worksheet and discuss their appearance and clothing.
